PROJECT: Drilled Rotors. (Before drilling, I elected to replace one of the existing front rotors simply because the two I had originally picked up from the wrecking yard did not perfectly match). Up front, the $15 a day Diablo uses 12 inch rotors from a 1985 Chevy 1/2 ton pick-up truck (front rotors). To improve appearance, performance, cooling, and to lighten the rotors (4 1/2 pounds each by the way) I hired LSD of Ontario, California to drill 54 (3/8") holes in each rotor. An actual Diablo has 52 (1/4") holes in each rotor but we drilled larger holes for a more "beefy" appearance and to remove more metal (thus lightening the rotor more). After drilling, each rotor was carefully cleaned. Next, the existing bearings and seals were cleaned, greased, and reinstalled. The project was casually completed over a 10 day period. Labor: drilling $1.00 ea hole. Parts: one new rotor $40. Average cost: 15 dollars a day
